Starking is a Chinese watch brand which I always want to buy from, perhaps Starking is not as popular as some traditional big brands like Tianwang, Beijing and Sea-gull, but the watches made by Starking have one common feature, which is very affordable, when I need to choose a watch as a gift for my girlfriend, I will consider Starking first, because they really make very beautiful and elegant ladies watches, I think their ladies watches are more popular than mens watches. This black one is the fourth Starking watch I am going to review, it also has a sleleton dial, Starking really like using skeleton dial design on their mens watches, and the skeleton was indeed a trend for a while.

The black Starking watch is fully black, except the gold color you can see through its hollow dial. Do you guys love this black model? If not, there are other three options on the website, stainless steel case with black dial, black case with black leather strap, yellow gold case with brown leather strap. The yellow gold one with brown leather strap also looks nice, each of them is less than 60 US Dollars, very cheap.

I can not imagine what type of an automatic watch we can get at the price of 60 US Dollars. The watch is made with solid 316L stainless steel and then processed with black pvd coating, the case is 42mm in diameter and is only 11.5mm in thickness, you can not judge the quality of the case finish by those photos on their website, actually the actual watch I received looks better than the one shown on Starking’s site, the finish on the case and bracelet, especially the polishing and brushing alternately applied on the bracelet gives the wearer a good visual enjoyment, the watch gives me a great first impression when I opened the gift box.

The dial has a skeleton design, it shows the golden movement parts behind, you can appreciate the mechanical beauty from the front, the beating soul of the entire machine is shown in front of your eyes. The usage of the inner bezel marked with white indexes enhances the three-dimensional effect of the entire dial. I am a bit disappointed because there is no date show on the dial.

From the see-through crystal back, I see the golden movement, Starking did not make too much decoration on the original movement, which is a common automatic calibre made in China, the big snowflake sculpture is like Starking logo, it is attached on the rotor and will turn when the auto rotor swings. Starking also offers one pair of black leather strap for free, the gift box is small, but with Starking brand information, the watch and leather band are secured inside, a very professional job the Starking has done.

The dial is skeleton, there are red jewels and blue screws on the dial, with black frames, to fix all machine parts on the dial to bring shock absorption effect. There is a Starking snowflake logo in golden color at 3 o’clock.

Inside there is a Chinese automatic movement, this is a very common movement used by a lot of Chinese watches, you can see some modifications have been made by Starking, a lot of screws fixed tightly to offer a high stability. The watch is equipped with a black and green rubber band that is made with natural rubber material imported from Malaysia. The green color on the rubber band exactly echoes with the green used on the dial, any way, I like the green on the watch, it conveys a sense of young and bright. Starking also offers golden and red choices on this watch.

Starking was founded in Shenzhen, Guangdong, it had some great moments in its history, they often opened watch exhibitions in Hong Kong, but this brand is not as popular as our old big threes of Beijing Watch, Shanghai Watch and Sea-gull. The quality of Starking is just fine, and most of their watches are very affordable, ok quality and cheap price, I think this is the biggest advantage of Starking. The Starking watch I am going to introduce today is a stainless steel model with black dial, which looks very common, but its unique dial design makes it different. The watch is made with solid 316L stainless steel, it has a case diameter of 41.5mm and is 11.8mm thick, which is a size just matches current big watch trend. The case finish is exquisite, both brushing and polishing are used to create a high-end visual effect, every side of the case, including every corner of the lugs, they are smoothly processed to make sure the watch have a comfortable wearing feeling. The screw-in crown has an engraved snowflake Starking logo.

I like its black dial, which looks unique and has an asymmetrical aesthetic. Among all watches I have seen before, this Starking is the first watch that features a small-second subdial between 4:00 and 6:00, under a low price, the watch has such a creative dial design, I think it already worths your money. Another silver small dial that is positioned at 9 o’clock is for 24-hour display, the small hand on that subdial is not showing the time in the second time zone, it is just a display of current time in a format of 24-hour. The dial has an multi-layer structure that looks obvious, the circle on the center is sunken and has white minutes from 5 to 60, the outer circle has silver hour markers and diamonds set at 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock and 6 o’clock. “STARKING” and brand logo are three-diemensional, not printed, this is another place I like on its dial, you know, many Chinese watches that are sold at such price have their logo and brand name printed on the dial to save the cost.

The movement I see from the crystal back is golden and has beautiful decoration. Starking uses a Miyota 82S7 automatic movement in this watch, it is a very regular automatic movement made in Japan, Miyota 82S7 has a beating frequency of 21,600 times per hour and 21 jewels, the power reserve is great, the watch can work about 35 hours every time when I gave it a full winding, about accuracy, I have this watch for almost three months, now it will be 3 or 4 minutes faster every two weeks, well, this is acceptable for me. At last, Starking offers four different styles for this watch, there are two tone model and full black model to choose.
