Rossini, this brand has been in watch industry for a lot of years, but I do not know much about it. I made some searches online and found some beautiful ladies watches of them, and certainly a connection with the Swiss they have claimed in their brand story, although not obvious, but like most other watches created in China, Rossini tried to promote their watches with some Swiss-related elements. There are a lot of micro brands like Rossini in China, but not all of them are high quality, some even claimed they are made in the Switzerland to cheat customers, some are really high quality, you need a good guide to pick a quality watch, while cano not spend too much. Rossini is not a homage brand, they have their own designs, especially on ladies models, but I do not think men will choose a Rossini when they also meet some popular homages at the same price point.

Why I choose this Rossini watch although I already have a lot of diver’s watches? I was simply attracted by its design inspiration that comes from the Devil Ray. I checked the entire watch, its color combination of silver and black is exactly the color you find on the Devil Ray, and the design elements on the dial, also inspired by the Devil Ray. This is not about homage, the watch is totally independently designed by Rossini, few brands like them to use an animal in the sea as a design theme of their diver’s watch.

The watch looks strong and robust because is is fully made with solid stainless steel, with wide bracelet and bezel. The case has a diameter of 43mm and thickness of 12.4mm, for a diving watch, the thickness is ok for most people, but the case is a little big for some people after all it is 43mm. The case is fully brushed, the uni-directional rotating bezel has engraved black markers, and features a white lume pearl at 12 o’clock. The shape of the lugs and crown guards looks similar to the front face of the Devil Ray. On the solid stainless steel back, there is an engraving of Devil Ray, the back is screwed down to gurantee a 100m water resistance.

The black dial has an unique sandy texture, the hour markers, including the big digits 3-6-9-12, they have big and wide design, so they can be applied with more lume material, to ensure the dial markers and hand have a long-lasting glow in dark conditions. The hour hand also draws design inspiration from the shape of the Devil Ray, both hour hand and minute hand have been applied with lume material, the sweeping seconds hand on the center has a tip in bright red color. There is a Devil Ray image at 6 o’clock.

At last, I want to talk about the movement, the Rossini uses a Seiko NH35A automatic movement, which is widely used in many diver’s watches created in China. Like this Rossini, these type of diver’s watches with NH35A movement have two big obvious features, basic timing function and cheap prices. Til now, the watch is a bit faster, about 10 seconds each day. It is said that the watch with NH35A movement will run a little faster at the beginning, it will become normal and more accurate after wearing for a while. By the way, I would love the watch more if one extra nato band could be offered for this Rossini watch.
