Vakuy Rigas Daytona Homage

I like vintage watch, some Rolex watches made in old times attract me, when I do a search of Daytona Paul Newman homage on google, I found this brand, Vakuy Rigas, I did not hear it before, and it is the first time for me to buy from Vakuy Rigas, is this also a Chinese brand? Mostly yes, I read some comments on reddit, they talked this brand in Chinese watch section. Well, Vakuy Rigas maybe created by a small watch company in Guangzhou or Dongguan, or it is just a sub-brand of Parnis, who knows. This Vakuy Rigas I bought uses a quartz movement, it looks similar to a Rolex Daytona Paul Newman watch.

Its black bezel, cream white dial, three small dials and red minute scales indeed remind me one Daytona Paul Newman watch I saw online before, this is also the best-selling replica Daytona Paul Newman in the market. When received it two days ago, I felt like it is a real Daytona Paul Newman, very close appearance. The case is totally brushed, the edge and corner on the case and bracelet links are polished very well, they won’t scrape my hand. Two buttons are slightly different, they have screws around, but on Daytona Paul Newman, they are cap style buttons without no screws to lock. The screw-in crown is a little bigger with front a bit raised. The case is measured to be 38mm in diameter, it is a little thick, which is 15mm, but including the Acrylic glass face.

The dial has a layout that looks exactly the same as Paul Newman Daytona, and the match-head markers on the small dials are also classic element on Paul Newman Daytona, but the subdials have different functions. The watch is driven by a quartz movement, which is VK63A from Citizen, the white small hand ticks around the black subdial at 6 o’clock, the small black dial at 3 o’clock is hour display in 24-hour format, while the small black dial at 9 o’clock is 60-minute chronograph counter, I am very happy that the watch has a real chronograph function, when you push the button at 2 o’clock, the central second-chronograph hand will move. I checked the finish of these three small dials, the CD patterns are finished fine.

The bracelet is made with 316L stainless steel with solid links brushed, it features a deployant clasp without engravings. The bracelet quality exceeds my expectation, I thought the links would be loose but actually there is no much space between each link, that’s really nice. By the way, I do not want to try to wear this watch in a swimming pool even my friend told me it is water resistant.

Buying advice:

There are very few Daytona Paul Newman homage watches in the market, as far as I know, two brands are making it, Pagani Design and Vakuy Rigas. And this one from Vakuy Rigas uses a quartz movement, I think you should buy it as a permanent own because the quartz movement is so durable. After this purchase, you can find a Paul Newman watch with 7750 movement. Now this Vakuy Rigas quartz watch is only sold at less than 65 USD.

A very sports Rossini watch

This is my second Rossini watch, it uses a quartz movement and looks very sports. When people talking about sports watches, the first that comes to their mind may be those digital watches with a LED screen, however, some watches under a mechanical outlook and feature a regular dial with three hands also look sports, just like this Rossini. I seldom bought quartz watches, only if there are ones that make me exciting, besides, I will write reviews about digital watches and smart watches one or two months ago, I know there are many good ones made in China, I want to pick up the best ones sold on the internet.

The watch is driven by a quartz movement and has a sports rubber band in black, but the dial design also adds some mechanical sense to the watch. I like its color design, the black color on the case and rubber band makes the watch look cool, while the light blue on the dial is a young and lively color to highlight the entire dial, the red color on the dial enhances the readability of the entire dial. The watch has a big case that is measured to be 44mm in diameter, it is made with 316L stainless steel and has black coating that makes the watch look more high end. All my attention is attracted by its skeleton dial that features big hour markers with luminous coating, I also like the small-second hand design, it looks like a big arrow with a red tip, just like the tip of other two small hands. The chrono function works, the small dial at 9 o’clock is a 60-minute chronograph counter, but the subdial at 3 o’clock is not a hour-chronograph counter, it is a 24-hour display. The date wheel below will show current date in a white background between 4:00 and 5:00. I love the design of the dial, some famous brands from China have creative ideas in the watch design. I think Rossini has some similar designs to Rarone, both brands are more suitable for young people.

I never thought that I will buy a quartz watch, but sometimes a quartz watch is really convenient, you do not need to wind the watch every day, and a quartz watch is very accurate, the watch won’t lose seconds. I do not have a quartz watch in my collection except one G-Shock, I always think that a watch has a mechanical outlook while with a quartz movement does not look professional, especially for a man who is a supporter of mechanical watches. I have seen some homage brands making quartz watches under a mechanical look, they look nice, so some days ago, I searched online and found this STEELDIVE watch, I did not know this is a quartz watch til I read its specification of the watch, the watch has a great styling and classic features of pilot’s watches, I thought there will be an automatic movement inside, while it is a quartz.

STEELDIVE, this brand is not new to you, right? I have introduced STEELDIVE before on my blog, it is a popular Chinese homage brand, and also one of my favorite homage watches. Most STEELDIVE watches I have are diving styles, while this one is a pilot watch. The STEELDIVE, all attention should be paid to its dial, which is a classic style of pilot’s watch and have somewhat vintage flavor on the design of hour markers and hands. The inside Swiss Ronda quartz movement is also a big selling point.

The case is only 39mm in diameter, not including the crown, it looks a little small for this STEELDIVE pilot watch whose dial refers to the dial design of Zenith Pilot. The big hands and big Arabic numeral hour markers seem not to match the small case of the watch. The case is about 12mm in thickness, well, I think it is a little thick for a quartz watch. The case is fully brushed with a small round bezel, solid case back has a big STEELDIVE logo engraving, which contains diving mask and oxygen tanks. Both screw-in crown and case back ensure a 200m water resistance, I do not believe the watch has such a big waterproofing depth.

The black dial is all about big things, big hour markers and wide hands that are applied with superlume, the dial lume looks very strong, that’s one of the biggest feature of STEELDIVE watches. The first impression which the dial gives to me is a vintage pilot watch, big Arabic numeral hour markers are yellow but look a little brownish, the track-style minute scales also have 05-60 markers in orange color. The central second hand has a unique design, it has an arrow logo and a long tip in orange color, the hand is ticking around the dial. The dial is totally an immitation of the old Zenith Pilot watch.

The engine inside is a Swiss Ronda quartz movement, its power can last for almost 4 years, the watch is equipped with a black leather strap with white stitching, well, you can also ask the supplier to change a brown leather band on if you want a better fit for the vintage flavor of the watch. STEELDIVE is a very good homage watch I recommend.

Conclusion:

This STEELDIVE is a good choice for people who like a convenient wearing, it has all classic features of a pilot’s watch, with a quartz movement, which not only offers a more accurate timing, but also saves the inconvenience of winding every day. It has a cheap price but comes with a high protective box and all accessories.

Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch is very popular and is also very rare, it is hard to find an Omega moon watch in the market, a lot of people turn to buy a replica of it, I think it is a good idea, and here is another option, that’s the homage, a lot Chinese brands are now making homage watches, some have gained a good reputation. Guess what? Today, I saw my friend wearing a beautiful watch, I thought it is an Omega, but when I get a closer look, I recognized it is a Pagani Design watch, which looks very similar to a classic Omega Speedmaster moon watch I remembered, actually it is a cheap homage watch of that Omega moon watch. I also have two timepieces from Pagani Design, what about my evaluation on this brand? The watch is fully made with 316L stainless steel, my friend said there is also a free nylon band. Stainless steel made with black bezel and black dial, a classic combination. Both case and bracelet are well finished, some parts of the bracelet are brushed, some links are polished, so there will be a high contrast you will see. The case side has a beautiful streamlined shape that is polished, we can see Pagani Design has done a good job on the finish of the entire case. Unfortunately the watch is powered by a quartz movement, I do not mind, it is still a good homage of the moon watch in outlook.

Under the acrylic glass, it is a black dial, there are three small dials, each has a different purpose. The small-second subdial is positioned at 6 o’clock, the white small hand is ticking step by step, the subdial at 9 o’clock also has a real function, it is for minute-chronograph display, the third small dial at 3 o’clock is for 24-hour display, not GMT, it is just the hour display in 24-hour format. Although the functions you see on the dial are different from the moon watch from Omega, but I am glad to see every small dial has a real function. By the way, the second-chronograph hand on the center will work when you push the button at 2 o’clock. One last thing, the watch has a quartz movement that is imported from Japan, the words “JAPAN MOVT” on the dial tells you this. I like this watch and I am going to buy one for myself, on Pagani Design website, there are several colors options, I have not decided which one to choose.

Guanqin is a Chinese brand that produces cheap mechanical and quartz watches, with acceptable quality. There are a lot of brands here in China like Guanqin, but not as famous as it, because these brands can not offer a great quality while still keeping the same configuration as Guanqin at the same time. Actually Guanqin is a big watch company, they have a great collection of watches, whose prices range from 20 USD to even 300 USD, so customers will find a lot of choices when browsing their website. Actually there are not many Chinese brands like Guanqin that has such a large collection and occupies a great market share of the low-end watches.

Today, the Guanqin watch I am going to introduce is a homage watch of green Submariner of Rolex, actually this Guanqin is not really a homage, it just looks similar to the green hulk. Before, I bought the black one, and my teammate saw my watch, he like it and bought this green one, now he and me usually exchanged watches to wear.

The watch is fully made with stainless steel, it has a considerable weight, the case is absolutely solid stainless steel made, but I doubt the bracelet, perhaps it it not solid stainless steel made, it is hollow because I feel the bracelet is a little thin, the crown is not screwed down, so I guess the watch is not 50m water resistant as Guanqin claims, and I suggest you do not wear it when swimming, do not rinse the watch with water. The finish on the case and bracelet is just ok, not that good on watches from big brands, but the polishing on each case corner is also smooth, not hurt your wrist. The green bezel insert is not ceramic made, but also stainless steel.

The green dial has some similar designs to the dial of green sub, such as the hour markers and benz hands. Each hour marker is filled with white luminous material, so are the hands, they will have a green lume light in dark conditions. The green color is different when you compare this watch and the green sub. The watch also uses a magnifier lens on the crystal to show the date more clear.

The Guanqin watch is a very practical quartz watch with a good looking, I think everyone who love a diving-style watch will like this watch too, its outlook is very similar to black Submariner 116610LN, but I can not say it is completely a homage watch of black sub. Its bezel, dial and bracelet have different design from that of Submariner.

This Guanqin watch has a very cheap price, on their official website, it is sold at less than 30 USD. For such a kind of quartz watch that is made with 316L stainless steel, the price is very affordable, but that does not mean its quality is very low, for me, the quality is acceptable, worth the money I paid. The case has a diameter of 40mm and is measured to be only 9mm in thickness, you noticed two different finish on the case, just like its bracelet, the polishing finish on lugs and crown guards, while the other part of the case is brushed, on the stainless steel bracelet, the middle links are polished, which is highly contrast with the brushed links on both sides, I can not imagine that Guangqin will focus on the finish of the case and bracelet even they sell the watch at a very low price, just to give the wearer a better experience.

The black bezel is not ceramic made, the white pearl set at 12 o’clock is not luminous, I think these are two main shortcomings of this watch, I will like it more if Guanqin can use a lume pearl like the black sub on the bezel. Black dial is under protection of a mineral crystal face, it is ok for me, I think a sapphire crystal is just a waste for this kind of quartz watch. Every hour marker and central hands are applied with white luminous material, the green lume light I see from the dial surprises me, it is very strong. The date window opened at 3 o’clock has a white background, very easy to read through the magnifier on the crystal, you can adjust the date by operating the crown.

Anyway, I like this Guanqin watch even though it uses a quartz movement, I can not imagine how high quality a watch will be if you only pay less than 30 USD to get it, I am very satisfied with the finish, it is one of my most favorite quartz watch that features a mechanical outlook. Guanqin also offers green, blue and two tone styles for this watch.
